What do VRS teachers do on their VR Workshop Days?
5 oktober, 2018
On October 1, all VRS teachers met together at VRS Sundbyberg for a full day of professional learning.
After an active start with teambuilding and icebreaker activities, teachers divided up into subject groups. Teachers from each school brought and shared typical activities and assessments to share best practices and measure equity between student groups and between schools.
Do we expect the same type of work? Do we expect the same amount of work from each student? Do we assess student learning in the same way? These were a few of the questions discussed. In addition to a rich exchange of ideas and inspiration, each group gained good examples to take back and “try out” at their home school. In addition, the subject groups reviewed how to best use our learning management system in their subject area.
After lunch, served in our newest school VRS Sunbyberg, VRS staff welcomed Fredrik Nell from Preventive Measures in Norrmalm (preventionssamordnare). Fredrik talked to our group about marijuana and what we as teachers should know about and look for. He shared with us the instructional material, Koll på Cannabis. We also discussed how we as a school can work in a preventative way to help students make the right choice if confronted with a scary situation.
The next step in our collective learning together will be visiting each other’s classrooms. Our goal is that every VRS teacher will visit a VRS teacher at another school to “team up” in the classroom and learn from one another. This is an important step in our work to share knowledge and expertise as well as ensure equity (likvärdighet) between our schools.
